About Us

My name is Adnan Rafi. I was born in Lahore, Pakistan and at the age of four, my family and I moved to The Netherlands. First in Amsterdam and subsequently in Alkmaar I received my primary and secondary education. After my first year in college, I decided to do something completely different with my life. I joined the army!

At the age of 21 I enlisted in the army and served within the Korps Commando Troepen (KCT) for four years. It was within the army were my core values respect, integrity and loyalty were strengthened and the values discipline, perseverance and accountability were developed. Being part of small special operations teams made me experience what it is like to carry out challenging assignments under difficult circumstances. And I have grown to like this.

The M.A.P. Consultancy logo represents two people or entities shaking hands (respectfully agreeing), the north arrow of a compass representing the common course or direction. During my army years the compass was a valuable navigation tool, which enabled us to determine where we were, and helped us (covertly) reach where we wanted and needed to be.

After leaving the army I studied Arabic Language & Culture at the University of Amsterdam and Management at Leiden University. During my university years I have lived and studied in Cairo, Egypt and worked as an intern at the embassy of The Netherlands in Tripoli, Libya.

In 2007 I started my career as a professional in the logistics business. Between 2007 and 2020 I have worked for Royal Vopak, Oiltanking and VTTI . Within these international service orientated logistics companies I have carried out various commercial, operational and Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) roles, both in the Netherlands and internationally.

Since 2015 I have been part of the management teams of the above mentioned companies, as a HSSE and Compliance Manager. As a member of management teams I have always felt the drive and responsibility to improve the general performance of the company. It is this drive for continuous and targeted improvement that has inspired me to become an advisor to Seveso/ BRZO companies, helping others to reach their aspired goals.

The mission of M.A.P. Consultancy is to use the competence, knowlegdge, experience and drive of its associates to help companies reach their wanted ‘destination’. M.A.P. Consultancy is service orientated and uses tailor-made approaches to help companies improve their performance on a wide range of areas, such as Health; Safety; Security; Environment; Compliance; Audits; Emergency Response; Operations and General Management.

Together with my wife, Eva, I live in the great city of Amsterdam.
